Wednesday 12th May 2021

As you may be aware, the funeral of Josh Hall, a former Rednock student, will be taking place on the morning of Thursday 20th May 2021.  Whilst this is an exceptionally private affair for Josh’s close family and friends, his mum is keen that the community are able to show their respects and support for Josh.  Therefore as Josh makes his way from his home to the service they are hoping that the streets will be lined with the people who want to say goodbye.  At approximately 10.00am Josh will pass by Rednock School and at that point the procession will slow to a walk in recognition of him passing.

Rednock School wanted to write to the community to invite you to stand with us on this sad day.  Members of the Rednock staffing body will be standing at the front of the school as the procession passes and you would be welcome to join us at this time.  We are fortunate to have a long wide pavement outside of our school on both sides and it would suit having people from across the community – we would like to stand together at this time.

As a school we will be marking Josh’s funeral by holding a two minutes’ silence just after 10.00am when he is due to pass by the school.  Teachers will talk to students inside the school about the significance of the moment and ensure that they are all supported.  We are aware that some of Josh’s close friends and peers will want to show their respects in person along the route and we have written to parents in advance letting them know that we will authorise any absence from school in the manner that their parents feel is most suitable.

Lottie Pain, who was in Josh’s year at school asked us to post this:

“Tragically, in the early hours of Saturday 17th of April, we lost a beloved son, friend and brother, Josh Hall, after a fatal incident that took place the day before.

Josh Hall was a former student at Rednock School, who was known by staff and his peers for his cheeky grin, his infectious laugh, and for the compassion he showed to others. He was a kind soul and made a difference to so many people’s lives. Josh will be remembered for all these things, and missed by everyone. He will live on in our hearts forever.

Flowers, pictures, candles and cards have been laid by family and friends at Cam Cricket Club where the incident took place. For anyone wanting to pay their respects, they are welcome to lay flowers/messages next to the club whenever they wish.

Lottie Pain, a former Rednock student and close friend of Josh Hall has set up a gofundme page for those who wish to donate to Josh’s family to help with funeral/memorial costs. The link is included below.

Lottie would like to thank everyone for all of the donations received so far and support they’ve shown during this time.”

We, too, would like to express our support for Lottie and Josh’s family at this time.
