STUDENT HOME COVID-19 TESTING

Dear Parent / Carer

Following their first three supervised tests on site at school, students will now be moving to twice weekly, rapid Covid-19 testing at home.

We will be sending home Covid-19 testing kits with your child starting this week (15th March).  Each kit contains 3 tests.  Please make sure your child continues to test twice a week, 3 – 5 days apart, in the morning before school if possible and, if not, the evening before.  (We suggest Monday and Thursday mornings for testing.)  Students under the age of 12 should have the test administered by a parent.  A useful video on how to take the test can be viewed here.

All results (negative, positive and void) must be reported straight away to both NHS Test and Trace and Rednock School:

Results can also be reported via telephone by calling 119 – lines are open every day, from 7am – 11pm.

Rapid testing is now also available for parents, their households and support or childcare bubbles.  The government is encouraging all families to participate in twice weekly testing to help stop the spread.  Tests for parents and other adults within a household can be accessed by:

  • Ordering tests online at gov.uk/order-school-household-tests
  • Getting an assisted test at work, if it is available
  • Attending a test site to get tested – where you will be able to see how to take the test or pick up tests to do at home.

Please note these tests do not replace testing for those with symptoms.  If anyone within your household has symptoms you must self-isolate immediately, book a PCR test and follow national guidelines.

Further detailed guidance can also be found here.  If you have any questions or concerns about home testing, please contact Mrs Winter, Mass Testing QA Lead, via [email protected] or telephone 01453 543618.

Finally, students are being asked to continue testing twice a week, at home, throughout the Easter School Holiday.  We will be sending home extra kits for the Easter Holiday before term ends.
