All yearsPCM (Parent consultation meetings)An opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their teachers. Appointments are usually online and last 5 minutes.

All yearsTutorThe tutor is the teacher who sees your child each morning for 25 minutes, before they go to lessons. Tutor time is used to check students are ready for the day and to deliver key messages for the day. You can contact your child’s tutor by email, or by contacting the admin team who will forward your query.

All yearsMeet the tutor eveningAn opportunity to meet your child’s tutor and discuss any concerns. Appointments are usually face to face in school and they last 5 minutes.

All yearsReportsReports are sent home via email three times a year. They contain information on your child’s target for the end of year 9/11/13 in different subjects, and the teacher’s predicted grade for your child at the end of year 9/11/13. They also contain information on your child’s attitude, behaviour and homework.

All yearsEnrichment dayThere are sometimes days when students do not have their usual lessons. Instead, there might be a trip, or a day in school learning about careers for example.
All yearsNon-uniform dayThis is when students are allowed to wear something other than school uniform to school in return for a contribution to a charity. The suggested contribution is usually £1.
All yearsEnd of term, early finishOn the last day of term in December and July, the school day is usually shorter. Information is communicated by email.
All yearsHomework clubIf your child is finding homework difficult, the school library (called the LRC) is open after school on some days. The LRC is also usually open for students at lunch time.
All yearsDetentionDetentions are when a student has to stay in school for extra time at the end of the day for poor behaviour or for lack of homework.  Sometimes, detentions can happen at lunch time instead.
All yearsCatch up session‘Catch up’ sessions are set if the teacher would like to give your child some extra help or time after school.
All yearsTripsThe school sometimes takes students on a trip outside of school. Letters will be sent home about each trip. Help with the cost of trips might be available if your child qualifies for pupil premium support.
Year 9Options eveningIn year 9, students choose which subjects they would like to study next year. (Some subjects are compulsory such as English, Maths, Science and general PE lessons). Options evening is an opportunity to visit the school and talk to teachers of different subjects in order to help your child decide what they would like to study next year. Appointments are not necessary.

Year 10Work experienceIn year 10, students have the opportunity to spend a week ‘at work’ instead of coming to school. Students usually have to find a work placement themselves by asking local businesses / primary schools / family members etc. 
Year 11Post-16 eveningIn year 11, students choose which subjects they would like to study as part of their age 16+ educational journey. The post-16 evening is an opportunity to visit Rednock school and talk to teachers of different subjects in order to help your child decide what they would like to study next year. Appointments are not necessary.
Years 10-13External examinationsExternal examinations are exams that are set nationally. They include GCSEs, BTECs, A-Levels and others. The dates of these exams are fixed and it is important that your child is in school on these days, as it is not possible to take these exams at a different date.
